Welcome to Keeping It Reel!

2001starchild

The post office is closed today as are the local schools, government offices and most banks but….Keeping It Reel is open!  The staff here may be slightly red-eyed but we are typing away madly whenever we can, coming up for air as needed.

While there are  more important events occurring in the world as you read this, it can’t hurt to take a moment or two to read and/or discuss motion pictures, movies or films….whatever you wanna call ’em. That’s why this place is here and that’s what we’ll be doing.

Consider this site a “work in progress” as we are still getting the hang of all this. We could’ve waited till it had all the bells and whistles we would like, so instead we decided to hit the ground running.

The idea here behind Keeping It Reel is to do just that.  Anything related to our (see the above “About Us” tab) experiences viewing motion pictures can be found here.  From reviews to discussions and anything else we think of.  The goal is to share with you what we see. These films will range from current theatrical runs, past films were finally getting around to seeing, or any random title we come across. If we see it and we have time, we’ll review it.

We do not do this for a living and by no means do we know everything about film. We are simply film enthusiasts who know a few things about film and have been impacted  by and  enraptured with cinema in its various forms.

Of course, there are many films we have not seen yet and much more for us to learn about the medium. Thanks for dropping in and feel free to comment, interact and join in on our activities here.  Keep your cell phones on vibrate and any noise level to an absolute minimum and please….enjoy the movies!

Paul…can’t wait to read some more reviews…of movies I have seen and can comment on myself. I don’t know if I plan to see Avatar or not…it seems like a weird film to see alone (and I seem to always go to the movies alone in DC). Anyways, that and Holmes is on the Netflix agenda in a few months. I just saw a semi-cool picture called “Conversations with Other Women”–Aaron Eckhardt and Helena Bonham Carter in an entirely split-screen outing from 2006. It poked fun at the technique of the split screen and the director’s chair in interesting ways, although I liked it more than Scott. I have “Medicine for Melancholy” at home right now…I wanted to watch these two back to back to compare the man/woman witty banter…although the racial element in MfM should be a different twist. Finally got to see Where the Wild Things are…very lyrical/poetic, although I could have appreciated it more if it was strictly for adults…weird in-between thing happening there as it was trying to appeal to mass audiences. Also saw “Kenny” and “Gomorrah” and was duly impressed. Hope you are well…good luck with this new site! (The name is so bad it’s good.)

Thanks! We may be starting out by filling up some previous reviews in the Archives here to build some history but, as usual, we always have reviews in the pipeline to get to. It’s just a matter of time.

Very Fine Indeed. I’m excited for you! This is nice and organized – things get easily lost on FB if you don’t tune in all of the time. I don’t comment that often on the movie discussions but I do indeed enjoy reading them!
I’m looking forward to your reviews and thoughts about the world of film and entertainment. I’ll let my movie enthusiast friends and family know.

I love the name… your teased us with it for a couple of weeks… Well, here you are!

Sweet! Thanks. Just like a plant this place will need time, sunlight, water and someone to talk to it in order to grow. Heh heh….
