Trailer Tuesday (10-05-10)

It’s slim pickings this week in trailer land, folks! We’re getting to the point where just about every trailer for a movie yet to come out this year has already been released (save for a few indies here and there). Here are four movies that will eventually make it to a theater near you….
NOTE: Don’t bother with the new “True Grit” trailer which basically tells everything about the movie. Thank you very little, Coen brothers. Of course, now that I mentioned it….you’ll go see it, just hold off if you’re really looking forward to seeing it.
Paranormal Activity 2
Great. Let’s get a baby involved now. Here’s the new trailer for this sequel to last year’s breakout hit which was written/directed by Oren Peli. This one is directed by Tod “Kip” Williams from a screenplay by Michael Perry. I was completely annoyed by the first one and really didn’t find it all that real or real scary. Naturally, it warrants a sequel. What doesn’t? It may make for a fun midnight showing for its built-in audience. And those people will be there at midnight come October 21st.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest
This trailer will leave you wondering whether or not it’s for a video game or a movie. Maybe both. Relativity Media is the studio beyond this martial arts/western/fantasy action/comedy (insert genre) that stars Korean actor Dong-gun Jang as “an Asian warrior assassin forced to hide in a small town in the American Badlands.” The film also stars, get this….Kate Bosworth, Danny Huston, and Geoffrey Rush. It could be a lot of fun but also could be as awful as “Jonah Hex” and “Legion” But hey, we got an army of ninjas fighting cowboys in an old west town. The movie rides into town on December 3rd.
I am Number Four
Here’s a film brought to you by Dreamworks (not Sesame Street) and directed by D. J. Caruso and it doesn’t star Shia LaBeef. It’s about a group of nine aliens who manage to escaped the destruction of their planet and land on Earth. But wait, who’s hunting all these refugees down? This trailer doesn’t tell you that (because it’s only the first trailer, the next one will tell you everything) but it does tell you that Alex Pettyfer (star of “Alex Rider: Stormbreaker”) is Number Four and hiding out as a hunky teenager. The film also stars Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Kevin Durand, and Timothy Olyphant and will arrive on February 18, 2011.
