Two superhero movies, another Pixar sequel, and a bunch of robots blowing up Chicago! If that does nothing for you, then there are plenty of buzz-worthy indies and docs to discover. Out of all the June releases, I am most looking forward three releases: Terrence Malick’s “The Tree of Life”, a recent Palm D’Or winner at Cannes, the sci-fi film “Super 8”, directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg, and what looks to be a hilarious comedy starring Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan (as themselves) called “The Trip” (see trailer below). You’ll find a list of all the films scheduled to be released this month. Of course, dates are subject to change and IMDB links are included….

The pictures of the newly re-opened Patio Theater included were taken by Gordon McAlpin . The Patio Theater is located in Portage Park, a northwest neighborhood in Chicago. It’s a one-theater movie house that has been closed for some time, so tomorrow’s grand opening is kind of a big deal. For five dollars you can watch “Thor” in glorious 2D! So, if you’re local, you have no excuse then to go support this theater!
