COMING SOON: July 2011
July 2, 2011
It’s time to beat the heat and retreat to the comforting coolness of your local movie theaters! Check out the releases dates (subject to change) for July and see if anything attracts your interest. Fans of Harry Potter eagerly await the final film with bittersweet anticipation, while Marvel Comics fans will wonder if a live-action star-spangled adventure can maintain the studios winning streak. I’m looking forward to seeing two of my favorite genres (westerns & sci-fi) combined for what looks like a fun action-packed summer movie with James Bond and Indiana Jones. From major studios to indie films, this should be a good month for movies. So, check out this list and make a note of what to look out for, the IMDB links are provided below….

Also, local Chicagoans should get out there and support the Patio Theater, located in northwestern Portage Park. It’s been open for a month now and was recently named Best New Movie Theater in the Chicago Reader’s Best of 2011. Come check out a beautifully restored classic one-theater movie house, where current movies (usually playing 3 weeks after their initial release date) are a mere $5. The photo at the top of the Patio was taken by artist Gordon McAlpin, who’s work can be found by clicking the link provided.
