Yet another remake is made, seen and forgotten – I’m talking about you “Total Recall”. All you have to offer is a fine fight between Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel, after that you’re just unmemorable. At least there’s “Pitch Perfect” which supposedly offers more than you’d expect from a musical comedy focusing on a collegiate a capella group featuring the wonderful Anna Kendrick. And then there’s – COWABUNGA! – those pizza-lovin’ ninja turtles are back! All three live-action movies are now available for the first time on Blu-ray! These and many more selections can be found in this week’s double-sized list….

Enjoy the Rundown!

Out of the movies coming out on the 21st, there are three worth your time. If you want to be reassured of Richard Gere’s acting potential, then see the thriller “Arbitrage”, his best recent work. He plays a New York hedge-fund magnate whose world unravels after a tragic evening that starts to expose all the lies he’s crafted over the years. William Friedkin’s “Killer Joe” is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re into modern noir, or as I like to call it “Kentucky-fried noir” than this unsettling suspense film starring Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch is for you. And then there’s “Premium Rush”, which you shouldn’t just be brushing aside as that bike messenger movie. This suspense thriller, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Shannon, has a lot more going for it than you’d expect. It was probably the most surprising movie of 2012 for me, primarily because I didn’t have many expectations for it.

12-21-12
