COMING SOON poll – October 2013

The more we near the end of the year, the more we’ll see award season contenders – and this month makes that quite evident. The latest from director Steve McQueen “12 Years a Slave” is getting serious buzz and the Robert Redford helmed “All is Lost” is receiving similar positive word-of-mouth. So, while “Gravity” deserves all the adjective-laced praise being thrown at it, there are definitely others to seek out. Like the latest from Ridley Scott, Paul Greengrass, Robert Rodriguez and a team-up with Stallone and Schwarzenegger! It being the month where some a horror reboot or sequel is usually released, it will also be interesting to see what director Kimberly Pierce (“Boys Don’t Cry”) will bring to a remake of Brian DePalma’s “Carrie”, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel. The trailers didn’t make me too hopeful.
