ANNOUNCEMENT: Taraji P. Henson is taking Chicagoans to the movies!
Currently, the critically-lauded biographical drama “Hidden Figures”, starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe, is lighting up the box office. The inspiring and uplifing movie, which follows a team of African-American women in the late 1960s who provide NASA with important mathematical data needed to launch the program’s first successful space missions, has grossed $66.2 million (surpassing its $25 million budget), since it’s theatrical release late last month, surpassing projections and building momentum with each passing week. Of course, there are still some folks out there who haven’t yet seen it, but would very much like to. Henson wants to rectify that THIS WEEKEND in Chicago!
Henson has personally bought out a theater at AMC Ford City Mall in Chicago, IL on Sunday, January 22nd at 2:00pm, for the general public. The theater is located at 7601 South Cicero Ave and if you choose to take Henson up on her offer, all you have to do is show up for the 2pm showing of “Hidden Figures”. Hard tickets will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis at the theater the day of the screening. Theater staff will be prepared for you and representatives will be on hand to direct you appropriately.
Henson is from D.C., but lives in Chicago where she’s spent a good amount of time in filming her hit show “Empire” in recent years. This is a generous and amazing way of saying “thank you” and giving back to the Chicago community, especially those who cannot afford movie tickets.
As of this announcement, there is no confirmation that Henson will be in attendance (but hey, you never know!) – regardless, here is an award-winning actress taking you to the movies!
